How To Set Up Your Camera

Before setup, nsure your mobile device is connecting to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Zencam cameras will not be able to connect to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network. For more information on how to connect your mobile device to a 2.4GHz network, click here.

Once this information is verified you can continue with setting up your camera onto the Zencam Security App. To continue, please follow the step by step instructions provided below. 

How To Set Up Your Camera

Step 1: Download the Zencam Security App from the App Store or Google Play Store.

Step 2: Power on the camera using the included power adapter and allow the device to initialize. Once initialized, the indicator light on the device will blink green indicating the device is ready to be set up.

Step 3: Click on Register to register for a Zencam account.

Step 4: Once a Zencam account is created, log into your account and tap Add Device.

Step 5: Scan the QR code on the back (or bottom) of your Zencam camera. If you are not able to scan the QR code successfully, you can manually enter in the serial number of the camera by tapping on the “Manually Enter Serial Number” button.

Note: Do NOT scan the QR code information directly from the box, it will not work. Please scan the QR code located on the S/N tag on the back or bottom of the camera when setting it up.

Step 6: Locate the indicator light on the front of the camera and ensure the LED is still flashing green. This indicates the camera is ready to connect to the app. Tap “Next” to allow the device to connect to its hotspot.

Step 7: The app will automatically connect to the hotspot for your camera and you will be taken to a password setup screen. The password set in this screen will be the password for your camera. Enter a password with a minimum of 8 characters, using a combination of lowercase/uppercase letters and
numbers and confirm. A recovery email can also be entered in case you forget the password for your camera. Tap “OK” to continue.

Step 8: Select your Wi-Fi network from the Wi-Fi network list and enter the password for the Wi-Fi network. If you would like to save this password to the app, tap on “Save Password”. Tap “Connect”, to connect the camera to your Wi-Fi network. If you have chosen the wrong Wi-Fi network and would like to select another Wi-Fi network, tap on “Select other network”.

Step 9: The camera will now begin connecting to the Wi-Fi network. Once connected, the LED indicator on the front of the camera will turn solid green letting you know the device has successfully connected to your network.

This may take a few moments. If the LED indicator continues to blink or the device is reporting “Wi-Fi password is incorrect”, tap on “Start Over” to repeat the process. Once the camera has been successfully connected to your Wi-Fi network and the indicator LED is solid green, tap on “Next” to continue.

Step 10: Set the “Time Zone” to your current time zone and set “DST” (Daylight Savings Time) settings if applicable. If you would like to have these settings saved as default to be added to future devices, you can toggle the “Save as Default” switch to the on position. Tap “Next” to continue.

Step 11: Rename your camera. A few examples are provided such as; Front Door, Back Door, Office, and can be selected if needed. After you have named your device, tap on the save ( mceclip0.png ) icon to continue.

Step 12: The camera has now been successfully connected! Tap on “Start Live View” to begin using your device.
